Nokia 3.1 Plus is getting Android 10 update with April 2020 security patch

Nokia 3.1 Plus is getting Android 10 update with April 2020 security patch

HMD Global wants to keep its name as the "fastest smartphone brand to deliver Android updates". Today, the company is rolling out the Android 10 update for the Nokia 3.1 Plus. This device was released in October 2018 with Android Oreo and received Android Pie in February 2019. Now, the handset is getting the latest Android 10 update. It's amazing to see this level of support for an entry-level smartphone. Of course, the Android One program ensures at least two major Android updates for a device that is part of it.

The new firmware bears the V3.16H software version and includes all the goodies brought by Android 10. Among them, we can list the new gestures of navigation, revamped permission controls, and UI refreshments. Interestingly enough, the new update bumps up the security patch to April 2020. It's a bit outdated considering that we're walking to mid-May. However, we can ask too much for a device that certainly is on a low-priority for HMD.

As usual, the update will roll out in batch reaching Nokia 3.1 Plus units over 38 countries. If no bug appears in the following hours, it should be expanded to more regions. You can check the list with eligible countries in the source link. HMD expects this update to reach 10% units today, 50% by May 16, and 100% on May 18.
