This feature first arrived on Google's best devices from 2020, namely the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G as part of a late year feature drop in 2020. At the time of launch this feature was not present on the Pixel 6.

It works, as per Google by assessing the acoustics around you. Overall, it aims to provide better audio quality for Pixel users, which works quite well especially if there are audio issues.

What is worth noting though is that not all is great with this feature, with Adaptive Sound barely noticeable at loud volumes. If you wish to try it out, it is turned off by default, so you need to manually go to your phone's settings and toggle it on under the Sound section of your Pixel handset. This seems to be a server related updated, so it may take time to show up.
