Hugo Barra hints at Xiaomi Latin American launch after Foxconn visit

Xiaomi’s Hugo Barra visited Foxconn today after which he posted a photo of himself along with a message teasing a launch in Latin America.

Hugo Barra has been a key component in Xiaomi’s international growth. Since joining the Beijing based phone maker, Xiaomi has launched it’s phones in Singapore, and is eyeing other Asian countries, but they are also looking further afield.

After visiting Foxconn in Shenzhen today, Barra posted:

Thank you Terry Gou and the Foxconn team for hosting us in Shenzhen today! A solid step towards having Xiaomi even closer to Latin America.

Hardly an official announcement but enough to boost the hopes for Xiaomi fans. Interestingly Foxconn have factories in Brazil and Mexico meaning a launch in those countries could go quite smoothly and with facilities so near to customers pricing would be kept competitive.
