As expected, Huawei has gone and unveiled the Huawei Mate 9 Pro, a more affordable version of the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design. As such, the device is much smaller compared to the Mate 9, making it more suitable for people with smaller hands.
The Huawei Mate 9 Pro comes in the same metal body as the Mate 9. It sports a 5.5-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) curved AMOLED display, along with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. Powering the device is the Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali-G71 MP8 GPU.
The device also comes with the 20 +12-megapixel Leica rear cameras. The front of the device holds the 8-megapixel front camera, and a 4,000mAh battery powers the device. Android 7.0 Nougat comes pre-installed here, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 user interface.
This smartphone measures 152 x 75 x 7.5mm, and its 4GB and 6GB RAM variants are priced at 4,699 Yuan ($687) and 5,299 Yuan ($775) in China, which makes this phone more expensive than the regular Mate 9, and quite a bit more affordable than the ‘Porsche Design’ Mate 9 which is priced at 8,999 Yuan ($1,316) in the country.
We still don’t know whether the Huawei Mate 9 Pro will be available outside of China, but we somehow doubt it, otherwise the company would have announced it in Munich alongside the Huawei Mate 9 and Porsche Design Mate 9.
