A new Start menu, a new File Explorer, rounded corners for the whole interface and a general redesign: here is the future of Windows 10, shown by Microsoft.
Microsoft shows the future of Windows 10
In a video published by Panos Panay to celebrate the recent milestone of one billion active Windows 10 devices, the company showed us how the operating system user interface will evolve. In particular, the video shows a general redesign of the Windows 10 UI, starting from the Start menu. The new colorless tile design that Microsoft is testing internally seems confirmed.
Also, there is a new for File Explorer. In the video, we have a clearer idea of the style that Microsoft is adopting in redesigning one of the most important components of Windows. The app actually looks like an evolution of the primordial version that is running in the Windows 10X Insider builds.
The less obvious novelty perhaps to the eye is the rounding of all the corners of the windows and the buttons within the apps, also this already widely foreseen by the new guidelines of Fluent Design.
There is also a change in the design of the lock screen. It has a thicker and more evident font than the current one, in addition to the taskbar, leaner and without the system tray.
Microsoft is also holding its Build developer event online this year, where we’ll hear more about Windows and Windows 10X for dual-screen devices.
