Redmi Note 5 could be powered by Snapdragon 636 SoC

Today's unveiling of Qualcomm's latest mid-range chipset raised a lot of eyebrows along with several leaks/rumors regarding the first upcoming device to ever use it. An "insider" posted earlier in Weibo that the first phone to ever use this mid-range SoC could be Xiaomi's Redmi Note 5 model.

The tipster (@grass grass) suggests that the purported specs of the Redmi Note 5 model "fit" the specs of the Snapdragon 636 chipset, like the full screen display, the FullHD+ resolution support and dual camera compatibility for up to 16MP sensors. Note that the Snapdragon 636 is expected to become available in November, so that could be a month when we will see the next Redmi Note 5 series model.

A set of photos of a mystery Xiaomi device had appeared a couple of weeks ago and rumors suggested that it could be the Redmi Note 5 model, launching initially with a Mediatek processor this year, only to be followed by a Qualcomm version (Snapdragon 636) in Q1 2018.
