Google Maps AR navigation lands in Europe starting from Germany

Google is continuing its tests on the new augmented reality navigation in Google Maps. The feature was announced at the Google I/O 2018 but was seen only a few days ago in the US and now seems ready to land in Europe.

It is currently not possible to manually activate the new function, which uses the back camera of the smartphone to frame the environment reproducing augmented reality, making it easier to find the correct route, especially at turns, intersections or roundabouts.

Google has not yet provided a timeline for launching augmented reality navigation on Google Maps, but it's possible that the final announcement will arrive at the next Google I/O, scheduled for May. What do you think of this new mode of navigation? Is it useful and simple or could it distract users from driving? The comment box is at your disposal.
