Apple & LG Innotek Signs Face ID Components Deal For 2018 iPhones

It appears that Apple and LG are currently having a good romance as both companies have been signing different deals together. In October last year, Apple and LG signed an agreement for the development of a foldable iPhone, and now, both companies have reached an accord for LG to supply some components for Face ID features on 2018 iPhones. All three of Apples 2018 iPhones, as well as Apple iPad Pro, is expected to come with Face ID. For Apple to meet up with the production schedule, it had to collaborate with LG Innotek to supply some of the components it needs. To be specific, LG Innotek will be working on the 3D sensing modules that helps to identify the 3D image of a face.

LG Innotek is not alone on this deal as Apple has also struck a pact with Finisar to ensure a steady flow of parts. The development of the TrueDepth Camera delayed the mass production of Apple iPhone X, but it is expected that the 2018 iPhone models yield should be higher as it will probably not experience such delays as iPhone X. If anything delays the 2018 iPhone models, it wouldn't be the True Depth Camera that would be mounted on the front of these devices.

As of now, not much is known about the three 2018 iPhones, but one of these (probably the Apple iPhone 9) is expected to feature a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge LCD screen with one rear camera, no Force Touch and a price tag between $650 to $900. Rumors have it that Apple iPhone Xs will be equipped with a 5.8-inch OLED display while Apple iPhone Xs Plus will sport a large 6.5-inch screen.
